Zaman comes from the Arabic word زمان (zamān), meaning time, era, or a moment in time.

In many Middle Eastern homes, coffee is more than a beverage—it's a tradition of slowing down, welcoming guests, sharing stories, and creating memories together. At Zaman Coffee, we carry that tradition forward by crafting coffee that brings people together, one meaningful moment at a time.

Zaman Coffee is a family-owned specialty coffee roaster based in Montreal, Quebec, founded by Ashraf Azar and Zainab Alsmadi.

Ashraf brings over 50 years of family coffee roasting tradition, today, he combines that heritage with his background in Biomedical Science and Biochemistry, approaching every roast with both intuition and scientific precision. Through careful control of heat, airflow, and time, each coffee is developed to highlight the unique character of its origin.

Zainab holds a Master's degree in Education & Society and brings her passion for research, design, and communication to Zaman Coffee. She leads the company's branding, product design, marketing, and business operations, ensuring every detail reflects the values behind the brand.

Together, we source exceptional coffees, roast in small batches, and create products that celebrate both tradition and innovation.

Beyond coffee, we're committed to giving back to our community by supporting local charities and organizations that make a difference.
