About Zaman Coffee

More than coffee. A moment in time.

Zaman comes from the Arabic word زمان (zamān), meaning time, era, or a moment in time.

For us, coffee has always been about more than what's in the cup. It's about slowing down, welcoming others, sharing conversations, and making time for the people who matter most.

Inspired by this tradition, Zaman Coffee is a family-run specialty coffee roaster based in Montreal, Quebec, founded by husband-and-wife team Ashraf Azar and Zainab Alsmadi.

Every coffee we offer is thoughtfully sourced and roasted in small batches to showcase the unique character of its origin. Whether it's your morning ritual or an afternoon shared with friends, we believe great coffee has a way of turning ordinary moments into meaningful ones.

Ashraf brings over 50 years of family coffee roasting tradition, blending generations of experience with his background in Biomedical Science and Biochemistry. His scientific approach to heat, airflow, and roast development ensures every coffee reaches its fullest expression while respecting the qualities that make each origin unique.

Zainab holds a Master's degree in Education & Society and leads the creative direction of Zaman Coffee. From branding and product design to marketing and day-to-day operations, she helps shape every detail of the customer experience and the story behind the brand.

Together, we're building more than a coffee company. We're creating a brand rooted in family, craftsmanship, and the belief that life's best moments begin with a thoughtfully brewed cup.
