This region has earned a prestigious protected designation of origin (PDO) due to its renowned coffee and ideal growing conditions. With 25 municipalities and over 9,000 producers, the region is mainly comprised of small producers who are brought together by cooperatives to bring their exceptional coffee to the global market. This unique collective is a rarity in Brazil, where larger estates often utilize mechanized processes to manage high volumes.
