Coffee Background
ASOBAGRI is a cooperative based in Santa Cruz Barillas, with 1400 member farmers. ASOBAGRI is supporting the next generation of producers who grew up in this isolated corner of Guatemala. The youths of Huehuetenango understand that they are living in a lush agricultural area and are determined to protect their customs and heritage. ASOBAGRI uses proceeds from coffee sold by the youths to reinvest in youth-based programs in the area. These projects prioritize enhancing coffee seed banks, researching organic biofertilization solutions and aiding the development of barista, cupping and business skills with Café Armonía.
